A. E.Rush Creek Commons·2+ weeks agoRUSH CREEK COMMONS- Do we know around what time they’re gonna plow the driveways? HOA is the worst here, always taking their precious time until ALL the predicted snow has fallen before they ever do anything. Unless there’s any kids out there looking to showel a small 2 car driveway 😭 I have a bad hand from surgery and need it done by 2 pm today by time I get back from work 😭4Like4

HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE5 days agoAgencyMore great work from our Violent Offender Task Force! Members of VOTF recently participated in a Focused Enforcement Detail to combat violent crime in Minneapolis and surrounding areas. While only a few of the incidents are noted below, they highlight the continued dangers our staff see with suspects who are brazenly fleeing or ramming squad cars. We thank VOTF, Enforcement Services Division (ESD), and all law enforcement agencies who continue to work together to protect our communities, despite the dangers and challenges they face. During the Detail, a high-performance Dodge Charger fled from multiple agencies and eventually pulled into a driveway to evade police contact. VOTF detectives attempted to take the suspect into custody and while doing so, one of our squad cars was rammed and damaged. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed through the streets of Brooklyn Park. Detectives did not pursue and allowed a State Patrol helicopter to continue to follow the Charger until it parked inside a garage on the 7500 block of Maplebrook Parkway to once again evade arrest. Two VOTF detectives and an ESD sergeant began negotiating on the phone with the suspect who had barricaded himself in the residence. The suspect eventually gave himself up and was arrested. Twenty-eight-year-old Jarrell Coleman was arrested and charged with felony fleeing police in a motor vehicle and felony obstructing the legal process. In another incident, Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) located a Jeep SRT which had fled from multiple agencies over the past several weeks including VOTF. The vehicle again fled after MPD and VOTF attempted a traffic stop. VOTF and MPD located the Jeep in an alley and attempted to block the suspect vehicle in. The Jeep rammed multiple marked VOTF squad cars. The suspects were apprehended after attempting to flee on foot. A gun was located in the Jeep. MPD is investigating this incident. Twenty-three-year-old Wilson Gonzales Soto and twenty-one-year-old Julius Curry were booked into the Hennepin County Jail. VOTF also witnessed a vehicle run a stop light and drive around other motorists erratically on a two-way street. VOTF attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver drove several more blocks without stopping. While driving, occupants of the vehicle threw out a bag of beer cans. Once it was safe to do so, VOTF conducted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to stop the vehicle. The driver was found to be twice the legal limit and was arrested. Eighteen-year-old Jhoel Guambuguete Rea was arrested for 4th degree Driving While Impaired (DWI) and felony fleeing in a motor vehicle. ESD deputies assisted with the DWI process. As a result of this collaborative detail, 26 arrests were made and 9 illegally possessed firearms were seized.439Like180

HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyWe’ve got more great work to share from our K9 Unit! Deputy Tomasko and his K9 Luka recently responded to Brooklyn Center for a suspect who was actively threatening apartment management and law enforcement on site while holding two edged weapons in his hands. The suspect did not comply to commands and attempted to flee the officers on scene. K9 Luka was then sent in for the apprehension. Thanks to their great work, the suspect was arrested and a dangerous situation was defused.574Like84

HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICEa week agoAgencyThe leader of a rental assistance scam and three conspirators have been charged with felony theft by swindle. The parties involved in this matter stole over $148,000 of federal money by accepting rent assistance funds after submitting fraudulent applications for the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program and attempted to steal $129,000 more. Major Crimes Division Lieutenant Erik McKloskey led the investigation which involved dozens of interviews, search warrants, and hours of reviewing documents. As a result of his thorough investigation, leader Jessica Borchardt and conspirators Lasanda Adames, Rodney Mance, and Virginia Borchardt were recently charged with felony theft by swindle. We thank Lt. McKloskey for his meticulous efforts in bringing this investigation to completion.372Like101

HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyTwo felons are in federal custody today as a result of collaborative efforts between the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and the FBI. Our HCSO sergeant assigned to the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force along with Special Agents from the FBI arrested twenty-four-year-old Rochaun Christian Pomani following an investigation that led to a federal indictment and warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. After his arrest in north Minneapolis, Pomani was detained in the HCSO Adult Detention Center and later transferred to FBI custody. In another incident, video footage captured fifty-nine-year-old Michael Allen Francisco placing an explosive device on the window of a salon in Minneapolis on November 20, 2022, and vandalizing the same salon almost a year later on November 6, 2023. Our HCSO detective assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force assisted in the execution of a search warrant at Francisco’s residence by leading the search team. This resulted in the recovery of explosive components, related suspect clothing, suspected narcotics, and a revolver with ammunition. Francisco was charged with maliciously damaging a building by means of an explosive device. The United States Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case. Both cases are a testament to the importance of successful partnership between our Office and the FBI. We thank our staff and federal partners for their hard work and dedication to ensuring the safety of our communities.844Like83

HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyOur Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) and newly established Auto Theft Unit recently participated in a focused enforcement detail in Minneapolis. During the detail, a suspicious vehicle was seen driving erratically at a high rate of speed, nearly hitting parked cars in north Minneapolis. Spike strips were utilized and successfully deflated one of the suspect vehicle’s tires, causing its speed to slow significantly. The 14-year-old male driver then fled on foot from the vehicle and was apprehended a short distance later. VOTF learned that the vehicle was an unreported stolen vehicle from just a few houses away from the location where it was recovered. The juvenile was booked at the Juvenile Detention Center for auto theft, receiving stolen property and obstructing the legal process. In another incident, VOTF conducted a traffic stop in north Minneapolis in which an illegally possessed handgun was located. One adult male and one adult female were arrested for felony weapons charges. VOTF also located a vehicle that was involved in a shots-fired incident in south Minneapolis. VOTF and officers from the Minneapolis Police Department safely apprehended the suspect and located a handgun inside the vehicle. MPD is investigating the shots-fired incident. In yet another incident, our units assisted MPD with stopping a 17-year-old male shooting suspect who had an active warrant for his arrest. The suspect attempted to flee in his vehicle but was ultimately arrested and booked for his warrant. As a result of the detail, several arrests were made, narcotics and firearms seized, and seven stolen vehicles were recovered. We thank the participating agencies for their great teamwork in this detail. One Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office sergeant described the partnership’s professionalism as above and beyond what he has previously seen in his law enforcement career.703Like350

HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyYou may remember our post about a narcotics investigation that led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of approximately 45,000 fentanyl pills and one kilogram of cocaine back in February 2023. If you’re wondering what the outcome of that case was, here is an update. After their arrests, both suspects pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, and have now been sentenced. Twenty-four-year-old Cortez Williams was sentenced to 135 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. Twenty-three-year-old Savontray Collins was sentenced yesterday to 120 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. Both men were sentenced in U.S. District Court by Judge Jerry W. Blackwell. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ruth Shnider prosecuted the case which was the result of an investigation conducted by our Violent Offender Task Force, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.386Like113
